Welcome back, everyone! It's great to reconnect with all of you again. I hope you're all doing well during this time of the year. I’m aware that it can be a stressful time, but I hope that you've found moments of joy, laughter, and relaxation. Whether you've been pursuing your passions, spending time with friends and family, or simply taking some time for yourself, I hope that you've been able to find occasions to enjoy a sense of happiness and contentment.

I’m excited to share with you February’s edition of my newsletter. In this edition, I’ve included a variety of content that I hope you’ll find both interesting and informative. My objective is to provide you with useful insights, and I hope you’ll find the articles to be engaging and stimulating.

As we move through the winter months, it's important to remember to take care of ourselves and each other. * One of today's topics is to focus on whether or not there’s anything else in common between “our ego and our nervous system.” In the article, I’ll be making a few statements for you to try to guess which are involved: the ego, nervous system, both, or neither.

The statements will show the interesting journey I’ve embarked on to learn whether the ego and nervous system have anything else in common.

I’ll continue to share my insights about our departed loved ones, which will include our departed pets.

My friend shared a story that highlighted the importance of not jumping to conclusions so quickly. Her front entrance motion-sensing lights would come on in the evening, and often they stayed on much longer than the 60 seconds they’re set for. She was sure it was her departed mom and departed pet dog, who were making their presence known by playing with the light sensor.

She’d tell them that she knew that they were present, so they didn’t need to keep playing with the lights. Nothing changed; the lights kept coming on when no one was setting them off.

At some point, my friend started to wonder if it was something wrong with the lights, so she changed the light switch, and ever since then, everything has been fine, and the lights stopped being set off unless someone activated them.

Even though this situation turned out to have a logical explanation, she continues to get visitations from both her mom and dog.

Today’s question is, “Can you set boundaries with our departed loved ones and departed pets?"

The short answer is, “Absolutely yes." I’ll share another story; this one involves my daughter and grandson, who at the time he was three years old. There was one location where the family lived, and my daughter could hear two sets of footsteps in her son’s room. One of them was her son, and the other sounded like another child. She knew that there was only him in the bedroom, so there had to be a spirit child there. She would sense the spirit, but every time she tried to see what he looked like, he would disappear.

One evening, my grandson complained to his mom, “Tell him to leave me alone; I want to go to sleep.” My daughter asked a couple of questions, such as, Do you want him to be gone forever? Or do you want him to stay but leave you alone at night when it’s your bedtime?”

My grandson liked playing with his companion, but he wanted to go to sleep at night and not to continue playing. She told him to say out loud what he wanted. He just said, “Leave me alone.” She explained that he needed to be specific about what the rules were. He told the spirit that at night, he wanted to be left alone, and during the day, he was willing to play together. It was fine from that moment on.

When my daughter was a preteen, she became overwhelmed by all of the spirits around her. I told her that she’s in charge and to set the rules. She has even told them when they could approach her, and the rest of the time, she’s off duty. Spirit has respected the rules.

I hope these examples helped explain my answer. I, myself, have had so many experiences, but this would be a lengthy novel.

Today’s topic is “What else do the Ego and the Nervous System have in common?"

Take a moment to identify which of the following statements refers to the ego, nervous system, both, or neither.

1. Living in a loving and kind environment makes it easy to remain in the present moment.

2. At each moment, _____ is predicting what’s going to happen next.

3. One of the most potent influences on your life is the people around you.

4. If you tend to be in a state of anxiety, you’ll be more guarded, get upset quickly, and be uneasy with your relationships.

If you had answered both of the four comments, you’d be correct. I find it interesting how intertwined both the ego and the nervous system are.

I’ve added some explanations to the four statements.

#1: When you are in a loving and kind state, it increases the activation of your Vagus Nerve, a nerve that plays a key role in the parasympathetic nervous system, allowing you to rest, digest, detox, and heal. Also, your ego’s priority is to keep you safe.

#2: Both the ego and the NS are active every moment; they’re both finding ways to assure your safety. They have a lifetime of information at their disposal that they’ve collected, which is what they base their responses on.

# 3: People in our lives do have an impact on our self-esteem, which does have a direct effect on your ego, and it’s also true with the nervous system. The interactions with others, your emotions, thoughts, and physiology will trigger either the fight or flight response, or rest,digest, detox, and heal. When distressed, it has a direct link to the nervous system. It also has an effect on our ego and self-worth.

#4: Again, the answer is both the ego and the nervous system. Being stuck in a state of anxiety, you end up getting locked in your negative thoughts, which is when you’re stuck in the sympathetic nervous system, fight, or flight. As for your ego, it tries to find solutions that will keep you safe.

I’ve noticed a pattern: that at each moment, your brain is predicting what's going to happen next based on past experiences and current sensory input.

While the ego appears to be responsible for our sense of self and identity, it can greatly influence our reactions and behaviours in every situation.

The nervous system plays a crucial role in regulating our body's response to stress and anxiety, which affects how we interact with others and perceive the world around us.

Up to this point, while doing my research, I found it difficult to find examples where only the ego or the nervous system was involved.

* Next month, I’ll continue to explore whether or not I can find examples where only one of them is involved.
