 This January feels different to me—there’s a distinct sense of excitement in the air. It's almost as if the new year is brimming with fresh possibilities and opportunities.     Today I’ll explore the interplay between

“Soul Contracts and Free Will.”

Soul contracts are agreements entered into with no reservations or doubt, and they were agreed upon with complete faith in ourselves before we were born. Each of us willingly had entered into these soul contracts, choosing to engage in mutually agreed-upon roles within each other’s lives.

These soul contracts with others are intended to be adaptable, respecting the principle of free will, and are fundamental to human life. While the concept of a soul contract may suggest inflexibility, they’re actually more adaptable than one might assume.

Life, with its surprises and obstacles, frequently necessitates adjustments to our objectives and ambitions. In the same way, soul contracts can be redefined in light of life’s unexpected changes.

Resolving conflicts within a soul group is essential and can occur at an individual's own pace, guided by the principle of karma, which encourages completion while allowing for flexibility. Karmic bonds are created under universal law to help us resolve past issues but tend to be shorter than enduring soul contracts, which impacts our lives.

These connections frequently result in relationships that may be brief, unlike soul contracts, which can endure for many years, intertwining with the essence of our lives and leaving a lasting effect.

Our soul contracts combine predetermined agreements with the freedom of choice, providing a flexible and adaptable method for personal spiritual development and connections with others.

Today’s Topic

“The concept of a “Higher” Self isn't entirely accurate.”

At this point, it’s important to address the question, “Is it accurate to refer to the wise aspect within us as the ‘Higher’ Self?” The brief response is no.

The term “Higher” Self isn’t the most precise choice, even though some might argue it implies superiority over our mundane, flawed, and uninformed human selves. In reality, any term used to describe the Inner Light within us falls short, as it ultimately goes beyond all labels.

On a fundamental level, our True Nature merely exists – it is outside of time, beyond duality, and even beyond thought itself.

The "Higher" Self is more than simply surpassing the ego, and we must be cautious not to equate spirituality solely with the elevated journey of spiritual growth.

Spirituality, your authentic nature, includes all aspects of life. Your true and authentic self exists in mundane moments just as much as it does in moments of ecstasy and joy. It’s present while you are washing dirty dishes in the sink as much as it is when you find yourself staring at the stars.

Transcending the ego is just one aspect of what the "Higher" Self embodies, and it is crucial to refrain from equating spirituality only with the pursuit of ascending spiritual growth.

Spirituality is about finding connection and meaning in every moment, whether it be in the routine tasks of daily life or in moments of deep reflection and awe. By understanding that spirituality is not limited to moments of transcendence, we can cultivate a deeper sense of presence and connection in all areas of our lives.

A friend of mine mentioned that at the close of each year, she takes the time to reflect on her experiences and considers what theme she would like to carry into the next year. This practice allows her to set intentions and focus her energies on specific goals or values that she wants to embrace.  

By identifying a theme, she creates a guiding principle that influences her decisions and actions throughout the upcoming year, helping her stay aligned with her aspirations and personal growth. She finds it easier to keep it simple and say, “2025 is the year of whatever resonates with you.”

For myself—

I’ve have a few things that I want to focus on this upcoming year. I had a list of at least seven items, so I wanted to come up with a word that best describes the theme. For me, it’ll be 2025 — the year of the Phoenix.
